MMS on iPhone

3 01 2008

This time, it’s here!

Edit: careful guys… Swirlyspace has not updated the application to work on firmware 1.1.3 and above. So it won’t work on these versions! I’m sure an updated version exists.. but they wait to sell it soon on iTunes :-(

Finally The guys at Swirlyspace have released the first MMS application for the iPhone. It’s called SwirlyMMS and the current version (0.2) works on Swiss networks! Currently, it allows you only to send MMS but they promise an update version for January 08 which should let you receive them as well.

To install it, simply download it in “Installer” (under “Network”) and configure it using the settings below.

If anybody has the settings for Tele2, Orangeclick and the other Swiss MVNOs (Mobile Virtual Network Operators = Operators that do not have their own network but rent one from a “real operator”), please post a comment!

I have tested it on 1.1.1 only for the moment. Please report if it works on 1.1.2 !

I tried configuring for Orange CH but when I tried to send an MMS, I got a message saying that my GPRS / EDGE settings were not configured correctly. Does this application use GPRS / EDGE or wifi?

Can anyone help me on configuring GPRS / Edge for Orange CH?

Sorry for the ignorance…

I just sent a Swirly MMS 0.3.5 from a 1.1.4 Jailbroken iPhone from Orange-CH. It went through. I also got one back.

NOTE: you can’t view the image (at lease I couldn’t)

Installed MobileFinder AND MobilePreview. Now I can see it.

Swirly MMS was working with new UMTS Orange SIM – now not. Also EDGE no longer seen – any ideas?

David:

Don’t forget that before you run Swirly MMS you have to turn your WiFi off FIRST. Then turn your edge on.

Easiest way is to install BossPrefs. You can turn WiFi, Edge, Bluetooth and others on/off at the same place.

Ran into the same problems.
