I upgraded my phone a few minutes ago, like you suggested I should do! (actually I did a full restore to 1.1.3 and unlocked it with ziphone). Works well and you are right for the region settings. It has no effect on displaying the names instead of numbers... It is back to the way it was on 1.1.1... You have to patch the AppSupport file to add the country. Exactly what the fix you said does!
